Happy Friday everyone! Tonight is a random life blog post because it seems like my readers like to go through my food stash! Don't read the blog while you're starving though, may not be a good idea, so geeeet ready!!
I'll start off with my IRL Elpis flowers from Aliexpress because it was $10 for 10 flowers. Also, I'm obsessed with florals (I don't think that is a secret?) and seeing these online while I was shopping, MIGHT AS WELL BUY IT! Look how pretty they are ✧✧ (≧▽≦) ✧✧
Sas and I got brunch from a nearby cafe and I was very surprised that the food was decent. Google maps said it was 4/5 stars, but personally, I think it deserves a 4.2 or 4.3 stars (๑˘︶˘๑) I haven't had eggs benedict in sooooo long, so that's what I ordered. I have to say, the price was cheap and the quantity was huge for me. Also, my waitress was very sweet, so I had a really good time at the cafe.
A new Korean restaurant in our neighborhood recently opened. We saw that it had decent ratings, so we went ahead and tried it out. I did feel the menu was a little lacking, but I was able to find something interesting to try. o(TヘTo) Sadly, my experience with this place was pretty negative.
I ordered a kimchi based soup and it was mainly beef intestines; however, this soup was utterly disappointing. Despite my lack of knowledge on traditional Korean dishes, I've had other soups with beef intestines and it was done well. First of all, the soup was pretty thick and murky, so the soup wasn't really drinkable. On top of that, I got mild food poisoning. I'm not sure if the restaurant prepped their own kimchi or they bought their kimchi somewhere else (because Vancouver had to recall a kimchi brand).
Their only good dish was anything related to chicken, but honestly, I can get decent chicken from any Korean restaurants in my neighborhood. I think I found a new favourite in town and I will share photos some time later!!
Last month, Sas and I went to go visit one of Sas' cousins. She recently moved out and she was hosting a housewarming party. By party, it was just family, and there were 5 of us (Sas, me, his two cousins, and Sas' brother). So we started off the night with a board game... ᕕ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡° )ᕗ that was hilariously problematic (okay don't go and cancel me).
It's a game about owning the most alpacacs, so yeah, that's totally up my alley. Though... the goal is to conquer lands...to set up farms...and that includes owning... workers. The workers had Mayan/Aztec designs... and so, you get the idea.
Sas' couzzie also showed me her new guinea piggies and they were so cute!! Of course I had to take photos of her because she was very sweet.
HEHEHE. Cilantro piggie (。•̀ᴗ-)✧
Her sister was busy munching on cilantros happily omg SO CUTE!!!!
On a random weekend, Sas and I went to another neighborhood because we wanted to get some special katsus. Except... the restaurant was renovating and they didn't even say that on their website hmph. So we went to another restaurant that serves Japanese and Korean dishes. I ordered a Yuzu Chashu Linguine Soup and the description says:
Linguine, slow cooked chashu sloes in yuzu "dashi" broth.
NOTING THE IMPORTANCE OF THE DESCRIPTION, because guess the fuck what!? THERE WAS 1% HINT OF YUZU. If they weren't advertising it with yuzu, I think the noodles were not bad. The broth was a little bland, but it was definitely a good bowl of noodles for a rainy and cold Vancouver night.
But where the fuck is the yuzu \\\\٩(๑`^´๑)۶////? So I'm giving this meal a 0/10.
And yet again, Sas ordered something really good and matches the description on the menu. It was a Japanese omelette and the eggs was super soft. I should've ordered an omelette instead of a fake yuzu dish bleh.
I will end this blog post on a good note though. I did find a very cute diner near my area! Not only was the food cheap, but I actually thought the diner food was pretty decent. Yes, I love looking for diners because some of them still got a nice retro look.
That's all for now, so until next blog post,
