x. Appreciation Post - Geirskogul (Geir so cool)!!

As part of the monthly tradition thing for the FC, I'm throwing another appreciation post for another member. He used to a be lalafell, but when Heavensward came around, he turned into a lady au ra. He likes to grind his classes to 60, but he hates levelling his crafters. As the title says, this appreciation post is for Geir (aka Miyazu) since he deserves one :D!

Come to think of it, I've talked to Geir for a year now. Geir and his friend, Hiro, were looking for a new FC. They happened to find my previous FC and we started making small talks. Geir eventually brought in the rest of his friends over and the FC was getting pretty active. When December came around, I left the FC, but Geir was still sticking with it. We sent each other a friend request so that we could keep in touch.

We often waved at each other when we see each other in town. Then one day, Geir asked if he and Hiro could join Ocarina. In a heartbeat, I said yes. Since Ocarina started off very small, I certainly felt that many people could get a decent chance to talk to Geir. They weren't simple "hellos" and "goodbyes" anymore, but they were in-depth conversations (mostly about games/XIV).

I mean look at Geir picking fights with other lalafells when they were having a contest. They were trying to fight each other in being the cutest lalafell in the FC/Cactuar. Zetta got all jealous and was starting to fight other lalafells!

And Geir is trying to bribe his way to victory, not sure if paying Avasir is a good decision (cause that money might have gone to me)! Though I want to appreciate Geir for being a splendid mate in Ocarina. I don't want and I don't need drama llamas coming over into my FC, so thanks for being such a chill guy who just wants to play games and chat with others.

Speaking of drama llamas, I sincerely appreciate Geir for being a super understanding guy. I had a disagreement with one of his friends, so I talked to Geir about it. I imagined a lot of outcomes, like Geir supporting with his friend and leaving Ocarina, which I would completely understand. However, Geir basically told me if I'm not feeling comfortable, then I should go by my decisions. I was very very relieved and I will never forget this.

Another thing I want to appreciate is that you are very helpful around the FC! You have donated generous amounts of airship materials and I am truly grateful for that. We needed endless materials from GC and without your donations, we would've been spending a bunch of gil on the market boards.

I also really enjoy running dungeons with you. Especially the times where we ran blind dungeon runs during Heavensward! Thank you for running the the dungeons with us, exploring the maps, and not spoil anything about the bosses (even though you're new to it too). It makes the adventure a lot more fun and exciting.

and we've ran quite a number of dungeons together hehehe :D!

Thank you for coming along to those Alex runs as well. Those were awfully painful and annoying, so I really appreciate that you spent some time with us while some of us were trying to grab/upgrade gears! Thank goodness we're over that...

On one random night, Sas and I decided we should bring Hiro and Geir for their T9 clear. We remembered hearing Geir talking about his raid group hitting T5 when Binding Coil just came out. It's not that I don't believe the tale, I was too curious to see what Geir was like in raids. Sas and I dragged both Hiro and Geir into T9 and we simply gave them instructions through mumble.

Our T9 clear went smooth like butter and this was the moment where Sas and I thought Geir and Hiro could be our subs. When the raid group needs a sub, Geir was very reliable and we're very happy to have him around! Geir, you also amazed me with how you handled Final Coil, since you had no idea how the fights were.

We also farmed endlessly for our Hive weapons (and shortly afterwards, eso gears were coming out too). Those were pretty fun!

We did the same with our Thordan weapons, except they're not replaceable until we beat A4S (or when you finish your relic weapon)! However, I want to thank you for being part of the raid team this year. It saved us a lot of trouble in finding another person to join the group and we don't have to worry about DPS, learning attitude, and the list goes on. Thank you so much for accepting the offer and joining our end-game adventures. I really mean it.

I also want to say I really do appreciate you for doing some homework before raids. It really helps the group to progress and helps us to identify the problems easily when we're facing a challenge. You're very open-minded and you do admit your mistakes, so that really does make raid enjoyable (say no to drama)!

I honestly have to say, I am very impressed with how fast we caught up to A3S and being able to see the entire fight (Ria you too, but the spotlight is going to Geir :P). Without you being in the group, we might have been taking a short break from raiding or we might have been waiting for 3.2 to come out.

Ocarina is very happy to have you around, Geir! I am grateful to have met you in XIV and to meet other of your friends that you brought along (they were all wonderful)! You're the best NIN I know, so don't ever change!!

This is your theme song:

  1. Aww, thanks Dolce! You guys are the best, and I can say without exaggeration that if it weren't for the FC, I would have stopped playing FFXIV by now. Looking forward to another year of raiding (srsly thanks for having me) and other shenanigans!

  2. I thought the t9 clear was Gier and myself? We went on to do t10 and t11 ( possibly even t12) in that one night back when you were Goron hadn't done those yet. I think Alal was a little pissed I went ahead amd did those with you guys as I had my t12 clear before Goron passed t9 (you and Ubi did as well but had done so prior to all this). Part of what made getting the t9 clear all the more painful for Goron was remembering how much of a breaz it was for you guys and your amazing skills. ^^;;

    1. Nopes, we helped Geir and Hiro get their first T9 clear awhile ago ~ Then we helped Ubi and then we got yours. Also the final coil events were on separate nights :o But to respect this post, the main focus is appreciating Geir and fangirl about how awesome he is :3
